The Objectives this ReSet Seminar Sets for Itself…
§ To introduce and exercise a teaching methodology conceived as a dialogue of peers that will fulfill the double role of representing both, a model of interactive teaching as well as an intellectual environment fit for deeper scholarly/conceptual interrogation and innovation.
§ To orchestrate the debate, contained in the very topic of the seminar, through a variety of forms (summer schools, forum, etc.), whose very logic of sequence will offer discernible pathway of investigative thinking progressing toward a tangible outcome – conclusions of the discussion, scholarly innovations.
§ By way of applying the multiple form of scholarly debate – coupled with to the learning/updating oneself with the latest and the most progressive in the field/s - and stimulating intellectual contention, to establish a dynamic network that would maintain the continuity of the group throughout the three years.
§ To establish a faculty of resource persons, coming equally from both the East and the West of Europe, whose background (research/writings both in the field of gender/women’s studies and on the “theme of Europe”) and prominence will represent a valid and valuable source for genuine critique and innovativeness.
§ To wrap up the whole project in the form of a few concrete and lasting outcomes: a publication of an edited book of theoretical texts containing and presenting the new ideas developed within the seminar. Followed by a publication of a textbook to be applied in the teaching of gender/women’s studies in the region and a production of a policy study.
§ To apply the approach promoted by the seminar in the very development and realization of its own program of activities, by way of including in the planning and shaping of some of its elements partners such as the ATHENA Network for gender/women’s studies and the SEE Network. (The SEE Network is to be formally established in the beginning of 2004, as one of the envisaged results from the Regional conference “Strategies for the Gender/Women’s Studies in SEE”, mentioned in the background-section of this project-proposal). |
